As Berkeley’s chief administrative and finance officer, the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance (VCAF) supports Berkeley’s academic mission through strategic policy and managerial leadership. VCAF is responsible for managing the university’s annual operating budget, in addition to developing and implementing policies to promote and achieve financial sustainability, administrative excellence, and a robust infrastructure for Berkeley’s campus.

VCAF campus operations include: finance; budget planning and accounting; human resources; business services; real estate and capital planning; information technology; operational excellence; campus shared services; health services; and the UC Berkeley Police Department (UCPD).

In recent years, VCAF has made significant strides towards addressing the financial challenges that have resulted from large cuts in state appropriations.  Through innovative revenue generation and efficiency initiatives, operational improvements, and administrative reforms, VCAF is reimaging the way Berkeley’s supports its core mission of excellence in academics, research and public service.
